Thomas Junghanss is a senior clinician (formerly head of Unit) specialized in Internal Medicine (Sub-specialities: Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease) and research fellow at the Infectious Diseases & Tropical Medicine Unit, Heidelberg University Hospital. He serves as a consultant to Swiss Tropical & Public Health Institute (SwissTPH) in the field of envenoming and poisoning, as a member of the roster of experts contributing to the implementation of the WHO strategic plan for control and prevention of snakebite envenoming and as a member of the WHO GDG cystic Echinococcosis. His research areas are Echinococcosis, community-based wound management, Buruli Ulcer, diagnosis and treatment of envenoming and poisoning. Thomas Junghanss is (apl) Professor at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg, Editor for the Journals ‘Tropical Medicine & International Health’ and Manson’s Tropical Diseases.
