Dr Dayal Bandhu Majumdar was born on 22^nd March 1959 in a remote village of then Midnapur district of West Bengal. He passed MBBS from a rural Medical college of WB ,Bankura Sammilani Medical College, Bankura (250 KM away from Kolkatta) in 1983. His specialization is in Ophthalmology (D.O) from the University of Calcutta (now Kolkatta) in 1988. He joined West Bengal Health Service on 5^th Sept 1994 and worked in different rural Health Centers and Hospitals for 13 yrs ; now posted as a Senior Medical Officer ( Grade-II) in Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata. Dr Majumdar started working for the cause of Snakebite on 7^th August 2007 at Habra State General Hospital, WB. He has trained more than 3000 doctors in Snakebite management till March 2015 on different forums, as the State level resource person for Snakebite Management. He is an active member of the state team and helped prepare the “Training Module for Snakebite Management” for MOs of WB Health service. To his credit, Dr Majumdar has more than 100 public awareness programs for Snakebite, as a speaker, in last seven years.
